Official Code of Georgia Annotated O.C.G.A.
The Official Code of Georgia Annotated a compilation of the laws governing Georgia. It is referenced here because this is where you will find the rules governing civil procedure in Georgia. For Georgia, the code is published online through LexisNexis. You can also find printed book copies in your local law library. The structure of the code is O.C.G.A. –> Titles –> Chapters –> Articles.
You need to read and familiarize yourself with Title 9. Civil Practice, Chapter 11. Civil Practice Act to understand the rules that govern civil matters in Georgia courts.
As an example, if you needed to find the rules governing “Requests for Admission”, they would be found under § 9-11-36 which is Title 9. Civil Practice –> Chapter 11. Civil Practice Act –> and item 36 under that Chapter. You will also see that under the Chapters, there are Articles, but for the sake of referencing a code section, you omit the Article part.
